India buys S-400 systems from Russia worth over $5 billion despite threat of sanctions
Moscow and New Delhi came to a final agreement on the purchase of S-400 anti-aircraft systems. Washington announced a possibility of imposing sanctions on India for its decision. The Kremlin has officially confirmed that Russia and India have agreed to sign a contract for the supplies of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems. According to Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov, the document will be signed during Putin's visit to India."The signing of the contract for the supply of S-400 Triumf anti-aircraft missile system consisting of five regiments to India will be the key aspect of the visit. The deal is worth roughly more than $5 billion," said Ushakov. Earlier, Indian publication The Economic Times reported that India made the final decision on the purchase of S-400 complexes from Russia. The contract was evaluated at $5.43 billion, the newspaper said. India will pay 15% of the contract amount in advance, while the rest will be transferred depending on delivery terms. The first S-400 system is to be put into operation within 24 months after the conclusion of the contract.

JSC Kuznetsov (Russia's engine-building company based in the city of Samara) announced tender for experimental design work on the engine for the PAK DA aircraft (prospective long-range next-generation strategic bomber developed by Tupolev Design Bureau. According to the tender, the electronic engine system (the main and the backup one) is to ensure the prediction of the state of the unit designed for a 30-hour flight, stable operation at temperatures from minus 60 to plus 50 degrees Celsius and resistance to effects of damaging factors of a nuclear explosion.Fuel supply systems and hydromechanical control systems should be operable at near-zero and negative G-force up to 2.7 g. The engine is to last for 12 years that can be extended to 21 years after maintenance. In November 2017, it was said that the PAK DA bomber would be cheaper than the supersonic Tu-160, since it belongs to the subsonic class of aircraft.The PAK DA strategic Tupolev bomber aircraft is believed to be used for long-range aviation missions. The subsonic aircraft is to be designed as a "flying wing" aircraft, the flight tests of which are to start before the middle of the 2020s.

Three quarters of the able-bodied population may lose their jobs within the next two years because of active robotisation of work processes, a report by the Eurasian Institute for Competitiveness and Strategy Partners consulting company said. In Russia, 65% of the population, or 53 million people, run the risk of losing their jobs too, Leonid Byzov, a sociologist at the Russian Academy of Sciences said. The list of "disappearing" professions includes accountants, security guards, lawyers, postmen, journalists and traffic police officers.Accountants with the function of "calculators" are already being replaced with computer programs. Companies replace security guards with security systems. Lawyers unable to work with neural networks lose their jobs too, because such programs file lawsuits a lot better. Delivery robots will replace postmen, while journalists may lose the struggle for their jobs to text programs, although this may take many more years as journalism is a creative profession. To crown it all, traffic police officers are already being replaced with surveillance systems that make reports of traffic violations and accidents. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, Sept 18, to express regret over the death of 15 Russian military men, who were killed as a result of the crash of the Ilyushin Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft in Syria. "Netanyahu had a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The head of the government of Israel expressed his sympathy about the death of Russian servicemen and said that Syria was responsible for the crash of the plane," the press service of the Israeli prime minister said. "Israel considers the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad, whose military shot down the Russian plane, completely responsible for this incident. Israel also considers Iran and terrorist organisation Hezbollah responsible," the official statement from Israel said. The Israeli side acknowledged that the country's air force struck objects of Syrian army infrastructure, which allegedly produced weapons of mass destruction for Hezbollah. At the same time, Israeli officials said that at the time when the Syrian army fired the missiles, one of which struck the IL-20, the aircraft of the Israeli Air Force were already flying in Israeli airspace. The second round of gubernatorial elections in Russia's Primorsky Krai (the Far East) will go down in history of Russia's political life. During the elections of the governor of the Primorsky region, one of the candidates was winning the vote by a significant margin. All of a sudden, it turned out that the winner of the race has lost the election. The advantage of Communist candidate Andrei Ishchenko over acting governor Andrei Tarasenko was not striking, but it was larger than the number of uncounted ballots. The head of the CEC, Ella Pamfilova, stated in the morning that her department would not rush to finalise the results of the elections in Primorsky Krai. If any violation are found, the results of the second round of the vote are likely to be canceled, she said, urging the supporters of the two candidates to file complaints.The candidates themselves accuse each other of fraud and falsificationы. For example, representatives of regional authorities claim that the team of communist candidate Andrei Ishchenko delayed the entry of disadvantageous ballots into the electronic GAS "Vybory" system to overblow a scandal afterwards. Ischenko's supporters claim that his opponent was "given" several tens of thousands of votes.At first, Andrei Ishchenko called to put up tents and threatened to go on a hunger strike.
