Il salone raccoglie produttori, importatori, distributori, ristoratori, tecnici, giornalisti e opinion leaders provenienti da tutto il mondo. Nell'edizione 2012 ha ospitato oltre 4 mila espositori, su un''area espositiva di 95 mila metri quadri, registrando 140 mila visitatori, dei quali oltre 48.000 esteri provenienti da più di 110 Paesi.
Quattro giorni di grandi eventi, rassegne, degustazioni tematiche di vini italiani e stranieri e workshop mirati all''incontro delle cantine espositrici con gli operatori del comparto, assieme ad un ricco programma convegnistico che affronta ed approfondisce i temi legati alla domanda ed offerta in Italia, Europa e nel resto del mondo.
Nel contesto di Vinitaly si organizzano concorsi e premi internazionali, i più famosi: il Concorso Enologico l’Internazionale, International Packaging Competition e il Premio Internazionale Vinitaly che assieme all’International Wine and Spirit Competition promuove la divulgazione della cultura del vino nel mondo. Vinitaly inoltre organizza il fuorisalone Vinitaly for You, evento winebar aperto a tutti gli appassionati del vino, che si tiene nel centro storico di Verona, nella suggestiva cornice del palazzo della Gran Guardia in Piazza Bra.
